Competitiveness Award
LED ranked best-performing state economic development agency in the U.S. in Site Selection's 2010 Competitiveness Awards, up from No. 2 in 2009. The rankings are measured by Conway Data Inc.'s New Plant Database of new and expanded facilities.
Top Young Trainer Award
LED FastStart™ Project Manager Barry May was selected as a 2010 Top Young Trainer by Training magazine, which recognizes outstanding training professions age 40 and under. May was one of 40 training professionals featured in the July/August issue.
American Web Design Award
LED earned a 2010 American Web Design Award for its website, OpportunityLouisiana.com, by Graphic USA magazine. Competing against 800 sites, the award honors well-designed websites that attract audiences, communicate information, generate engagement and response, and market products and services.
Internet Advertising Competition Awards
In 2010, LED's website, OpportunityLouisiana.com, garnered the "Best Government Website" award from the Web Marketing Association. In addition, LED's digital media online advertisement won "Best Government Online Ad" for excellence in online advertising and marketing. Nationally recognized companies, such as as Google, IBM Interactive and Razorfish, selected the award winners.
American Advertising Awards
Since 2007, LED has received seven ADDY awards at the Ad Club of New Orleans American Advertising Award Ceremony. LED's national advertising campaign, website and annual report have been recognized.
Synchronist Award
For the second consecutive year, LED's Business Expansion and Retention Group received a Synchronist Award for Leading By Design due to its innovative and progressive efforts to strengthen relationships with Louisiana's existing companies. In 2010 and 2009, LED was one of a select group of economic development organizations throughout the U.S. and Canada that received an award.
Southern Economic Development Council Communications Awards
Since 2006, LED has garnered 22 awards for its strategic marketing programs at Southern Economic Development Council's annual conference. The Southern Economic Development Council is the oldest and largest regional economic development association in North America.
10 People Who Made A Difference
Gov. Bobby Jindal and LED Secretary Stephen Moret were named to Southern Business and Development magazine's "10 People Who Made A Difference" in 2008 for their contributions to Louisiana's economy. Gov. Jindal and Moret were noted for establishing a strong business climate and comprehensive ethics reforms in Louisiana, while the national business climate weakened with the recession.
Sage Community Stewardship Award
LED earned the 2008 Sage Community Stewardship Award for its innovative use of the Sage Customer Relationship Management program in assisting disaster recovery efforts related to hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Gustav and Ike. The award recognizes an organization that emphasizes the local, national or global community by striving to better the lives of the people it serves.
Economic Development Finance Professional Certification
Between 2008 and 2009, seven LED employees received the Economic Development Finance Professional certification from the National Development Council. Certification is awarded to individuals who successfully complete an intensive economic development training series.
Certification was awarded to Clark Forrest, Becky Lambert, Jeffrey Pennington, Bill Rodier, Rebecca Shirley, Randy Veillon and Shawn Welcome.
PRSA Professional Awards, New Orleans Chapter
At the PRSA's 2007 Awards Banquet, LED received a Certificate of Excellence for its website, as well as Certificates of Merit for its 2006 Annual Report and its 2006 New York Investor and News Media Mission.

Economic Development Awards
With overall wins in paid advertising and special events, LED has earned five awards at the International Economic Development Council's annual conference since 2007. In 2010, LED's "Louisiana By The Numbers" campaign earned the top promotional award in the Paid Advertising Campaign category; and LED's Business Expansion and Retention Group earned honorable mention in the Business Retention and Expansion category.
