CenturyTel and EMBARQ Merger Commended
BATON ROUGE, La. - Today, Gov. Bobby Jindal released the
following statement on the merger between CenturyTel and
EMBARQ.
"I want to congratulate CenturyTel and its leadership for
successfully completing a merger with EMBARQ to form CenturyLink,"
said Gov. Jindal. "CenturyLink will be recognized as one of the
country's leading telecommunications companies - based right here
in Monroe, La.
"Now that the merger is complete, CenturyLink also will become
Louisiana's third Fortune 500 company - joining Entergy and The
Shaw Group.
"I especially want to thank Glen Post and his board of directors
for choosing Monroe as the headquarters for the new company. This
news adds to a series of recent major economic development wins for
Northeast Louisiana. Combined, these wins will create thousands of
good-paying jobs, enhance the region's competitiveness and
significantly expand its economy."
