With the strongest incentive program in the U.S., Louisiana
provides a 25% tax credit for production expenditures and a 35% tax
credit for resident labor expenditures for gaming, web applications
and the next generation of interactive content. There are no
minimum investment requirements and no cap on production
expenditures.
Louisiana's focus on digital media represents a larger
commitment to grow its creative capital and knowledge-based
economy. The state is actively building upon its well-known culture
to establish a thriving infrastructure for both traditional and
digital arts. Beyond digital media, incentives also support
live performance,
sound recording and
motion picture productions.

Game Development
Video and computer game development in the U.S. grew by an
impressive 150 percent between 1997 and 2007, and will likely
continue to expand by 10 percent a year until 2012. Over the years,
Louisiana has successfully attracted several key startups and
industry leaders in video game production and testing.
TurboSquidTM, a world-renowned 3-D graphic content
supplier, was the first to take advantage of Louisiana's
digital media incentive. Since then, a growing community of
game developers have set up shop in Louisiana, including Yatec
Games, Nerjyzed Entertainment Inc. and Dream Forge.
Web Applications
Louisiana offers the only
digital media incentive for web application development,
pointing to a strong commitment in Louisiana to subsectors beyond
entertainment.
This progressive environment has helped attract a burgeoning web
application industry, which includes communities of independent
practitioners and entrepreneurs drawn to the state's expanding
coworking centers.
Serious Gaming and Training Simulation
Louisiana is a major player in the emerging field of "serious
gaming," or video game technology, used in interactive corporate
and vocational training and industrial applications.
