A need for affordable housing in Louisiana, coupled with the
support of state economic development officials, prompted Superior
Homes of Louisiana LLC to convert a vacant building into a
71,000-square-foot, $3 million manufacturing facility.
Located in Clinton, La., the new facility will produce modular
homes and other manufactured buildings for use as restaurants,
dorms, school buildings, cafeterias and other light commercial
buildings.
"We are excited about the opportunity we have here in Louisiana.
Employing Louisiana citizens appeals to us the most," said Flynn
Foster, president of Superior Homes LLC. "As a lifetime resident of
this great state, it is a thrill for me to see the level of support
Louisiana Economic Development and the Baton Rouge Area Chamber
gave to our project."
Before selecting the Louisiana site, Superior Homes was also
considering a location in Mississippi. Foster said the company
reached an agreement with the state, wherein the state purchased
the building and leased it to Superior Homes for a nominal fee. As
part of the agreement, Superior will build out the facility,
produce and maintain a certain number of jobs, and buy materials in
Louisiana.
The parent company of Superior Homes of Louisiana, Superior
Homes LLC, is based in South Dakota and has been in business for 50
years.
